Customization of Blog Theme Design

What is a good blog theme design? How do you separate a good theme design from a bad blog theme design? Such questions are critical for web designers. If you think the idea of creating a blog theme design is a bit easy for you who don’t know much about web designing, then you might want to think twice before presenting your conclusion.

1. Readability

-Now this is something that you need to resolve. Even if you have good content, that is still not an assurance that you will attract readers right away. A good margin of a blog theme is important because it prevents further distraction. Look at the technical side for an instance. Some parts of the design like the header, navigation and sidebar can usually steal the reader’s attention.

*Margin- In order to prevent too much distraction of the content area, a good margin is a strategy to separate the content from the extra attention grabbing details of the blog.

*Minimal paragraphs- Put yourself in the shoe of the readers. Not all readers can sustain long paragraphs, especially in blogs. Worst, your long paragraphs might intimidate your readers and would never plan of ever reading the entries.

*Lists- Lists can help the potential readers easily scan the content. Some readers get intimidated each time they see paragraphs.

*Texts- The importance of the content is sometimes emphasized by a text’s weight and size. Of course, now you already get a hint that when bold texts are present in the content, you will automatically conclude that it is an important text. If you create a screen with bold texts, how will readers identify the important words to read and remember? Give justice to the potential readers as you give justice to your blog design.

*Spacing- By talking about space, I mean the line spacing. Blogs that are publishing longer posts must have enough space between lines of texts.

*Sub Headers- Sub headers can allow readers easy scanning and better readability when you can pull it off correctly.

2. Sidebars

-Using sidebars are an advantage knowing that it can help for the navigation of visitors with a little touch of creativity. With sidebars, bloggers and theme designers can easily track down the most viewed and exposed pages or content to the visitors. If you have an interesting and attractive design with easy to navigate sidebar, then you have a good sidebar.

3. Uniqueness

-When it’s common, it’s just one of those things they see and forget after five minutes. How do you define uniqueness in blog themes? You might need to read the aspects that can help you separate a unique blog theme from a common unique theme. Think of the word CREATIVITY. Create a distinct mark for the blog. You can start by simply being creative. Be a little extra conscious of the color combination. Sometimes colors can automatically express the theme and content of the blog so be careful when using them.

A blog theme design is not as easy as anyone think it is. There are free available templates in different blog sites but the problem with them is that you can’t completely customize the blog the way you want to customize it.
